National Trust Summer of Play

The Summer Holidays are slowly coming to an end, but if you’re still looking for one last adventure before your little ones go back to school or nursery there are plenty of amazing places to explore! So, if you’ve got your free National Trust membership and need some ideas on where to go, we’ve got you covered with a run-down of activities at some of our favourite National Trust locations.

As part of their Summer of Play 2025, the National Trust are hosting a variety of events across the country, and we have everything you need to find your perfect summer adventure. From garden exploration and orienteering, to circus skills and ziplines, there’s an activity for everyone.

Wentworth Castle Gardens

Our latest location recommendation was Wentworth Castle Gardens where they have activities every day of the holidays. Some of these activities include outdoor games on the field or in the wilderness, messy play, gardening, arts & crafts and more! Until the end of August, you can even try out archery, ziplining, orienteering and Yoga. To find out more about specific events to look for during your visit, click here.

Brimham Rocks

At Brimham Rocks you can dive into the world of rocks through ranger tours, orienteering, geocaching, even abseiling and rock climbing! Although Brimham Rock is like one giant natural playground all year round, these are some special events held on select dates during August which you can find here.

Beningbrough

Beningbrough is also hosting some events as part of the Summer of Play, led by their own teams. Featuring lots of craft activities, walking trails and even bug hunts! There’s still a few days of scheduled events you can join during your visit, find out more here.

Discover More

There are some other locations we haven’t yet explored in our blog series that are hosting during the Summer of Play. Get the inside scoop on these locations and discover things to do there by embarking on your own adventure - maybe you’ll experience something we didn’t even know about!

To find out more about all the Summer of Play events across Yorkshire, or to find some events further afield, visit the National Trust Website.

We hope you have a wonderful time exploring; don’t forget to share what you get up to with us on Famly!
