Day in the Life of an Area Manager
A Day in the Life of an Area Manager: Why I Love My Role
Alison Turner - Area Manger Muddy Boots Leeds
No two days are ever the same as an Area Manager at Muddy Boots Nursery and that’s exactly what makes the role so rewarding.
I have the privilege of supporting our nurseries and the fantastic teams within them, helping to create environments where children feel safe, inspired and excited to learn.
Leading with Heart
People are at the centre of everything we do. A big part of my role is supporting our Nursery Managers and their teams building strong relationships, offering guidance and celebrating their successes.
When teams feel valued and supported, they are inspired to bring the best they can and grow in confidence and ability every day. Seeing that culture grow across our nurseries is one of the things I’m most proud of.
Striving for Excellence
I work closely with our senior leadership team to ensure every nursery delivers the highest standards of care, education and safeguarding. Whether it’s reviewing performance, supporting teams to prepare for inspections, or sharing best practice, our focus is always the same providing the very best outcomes for children.
Championing Growth
Developing people is one of the most fulfilling parts of my role. I love coaching Nursery Managers, helping them grow in confidence and leadership. Watching someone develop and inspire their own team is incredibly rewarding and reflects our commitment to continuous improvement.
The Muddy Boots Difference
Since opening in 2012, Muddy Boots has supported over 1,000 families while maintaining a strong family ethos and home-from-home feel.
Our philosophy is simple: every child is unique. We focus on building strong relationships with families and giving children the freedom to explore, learn and discover often outdoors. At Muddy Boots, muddy boots are something to celebrate, not avoid.
Why I Love What I Do
Being an Area Manager means I can make a positive impact across multiple nurseries while supporting the passionate teams who make it all possible.
Seeing children flourish, teams grow and families feel confident in the care we provide is what makes this role so special. Every day I’m reminded that the work we do in early years truly shapes the future and I feel incredibly proud to be part of that journey.
