Our positive approach to healthy food, sociable mealtimes, balanced nutrition and varied, freshly prepared menus encourages healthy little minds and bodies.
We offer children a wide variety of flavours from menus that are nutritionally balanced. It doesn’t get any better than good old home-cooked food – and as the plates come back empty, the children must think so too.
Mealtimes are enjoyable sociable occasions – happy, relaxed and a new opportunity to learn. The team sit with the children and lead by example; encouraging them to try new things, helping to serve and initiating conversation. With gentle encouragement, mealtimes are also when children’s natural curiosity for exploring new concepts will be extended to introduce new tastes and textures with their friends.
Our nutritionally balanced food is freshly prepared on site by the team, who minimise the use of sugar and other additives, never add salt, serves a minimum of four portions of fruit and veg each day, and uses local suppliers whenever possible.
Babies and weaning
In the Caterpillars Room, we’ll aim to follow your babies usual feeding routine. There is a dedicated milk kitchen where we store and prepare bottles of formula or expressed breastmilk. Mums who are still breastfeeding are more than welcome to pop into nursery to feed their baby any time.
Children under 12 months will be offered foods at their stage of weaning which is always discussed with parents first.
Our menus are healthy, well balanced and rotated regularly. We devise varied menu plans each season which reflect diverse cultures to broaden children’s experience of the wider world.
You can see our current season’s menus below. At Muddy Boots we supply;
Breakfast (for our ‘Early Starts’ between 7:30 – 8am). Usually toast, cereal and fresh fruit
A morning snack of carbohydrate + fresh fruit/veg
Lunch – usually sandwiches & wraps, veg sticks, fruit and yoghurt
An afternoon snack – fruit & veg platter
At tea time – a hot meal and a pud!
Muddy Boots caters for all dietary requirements – whether medical, cultural, ethical, religious or just based on your personal preference, we’ll do our best to accommodate children’s individual diet.
